Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma on Tuesday said a legal hurdle in the land acquisition process for the proposed National Highway-216 in Narsapuram mandal of West Godavari district has been cleared. The 22.17 km stretch of the highway in Narsapuram mandal had been caught in litigation after a private landowner approached the Supreme Court in 2025, leading to a halt in acquisition proceedings. In an official release issued on Tuesday, Mr. Srinivasa Varma said the Supreme Court dismissed the Special Leave Petition filed by the landowner, thereby removing the legal obstacle and paving the way for completion of the acquisition process. He stated that 96% of the required land has already been acquired and expressed confidence that the remaining acquisition would be completed soon in view of the apex court’s verdict.
