Lawyer found dead in star hotel in Teynampet

A 32-year-old lawyer was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a bathtub of a star hotel room in Teynampet on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Roja, 32, a native of Tiruvannamalai, who was practicing as a lawyer in city courts. Police said she and her male friend checked into a star hotel on February 15. When Roja did not respond to repeated phone calls, a friend of hers grew concerned, went to the hotel, and knocked on the door.

Receiving no response, she alerted the hotel staff, who contacted Teynampet police. Police broke open the door and found Roja dead in the bathtub. The body was sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem examination. The male friend who was with her was questioned. Teynampet police said the cause of death would be established only after the post-mortem report.
