LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Women’s Club will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Chautauqua Federal Credit Union Community Training Center, 110 Mall Boulevard, Lakewood. The speaker will be artist Kaycee Colburn, a published author, podcast host and resident artist at Jamestown Community College. Her mission is to honor her Native American heritage. Colburn will be discussing her art, and upcoming projects. Those attending the meeting are asked to enter through the Training Center doors. At the last club meeting, Emilie Barnett, a master mushroom forager, chef and co-owner of Barnett’s Mushrooms, was the guest speaker. Barnett and her husband own, produce and sell their fresh mushrooms, with Mrs. Barnett preparing many types of mushroom, sharing information on each type, and letting members taste test them. She discussed her business, how mushrooms are grown, and several recipes for them. Along with her presentation, Mrs. Barnett answered questions and shared stories on the business and educating club members in all manners of the “lives of mushrooms.” Barnett’s mushrooms can be purchased fresh in many area venues such as Carlberg Farm Produce Stand, Salamanca Farmer’s Market on Tuesdays, Jamestown Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and at the Jamestown Mobile Mart. The Lakewood Women’s Club is a non-profit organization open to Lakewood residents. Members must have a 14750 ZIP code.
