Urging teachers to inculcate a mindset of critical thinking in students, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan on Saturday said there was a need to encourage students to probe beyond their syllabus for bringing out their full potential.

“Teachers should encourage students to question and cultivate curiosity. They should be encouraged to think beyond textbooks. It is important to nurture scientific thinking among students in the classroom itself,” he said at the valedictory of State-level Science Exhibition held at Sinnatha Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Muthialpet.

Referring to the scientific models developed by the students for the exhibition, the Lt. Governor said the exhibits point towards the rich talent pool available in the country. The models by the students on the themes of environment conservation, sustainable energy, and robotics were in tune with the agenda of a developed India, he said.

“The country is no longer an importer of technology and scientific ideas but a global provider of scientific solutions. Achievements made by ISRO through its space missions, vaccination leadership shown by the country during COVID-19 pandemic and developments made in digital transactions are examples of a transforming India,” he said. 

Home Minister and Education Minister A. Namassivayam, Speaker R. Selvam and School Education Director Sivakumar were present.
