A mega cordon and search operation was conducted in Kurnool district, during which 69 vehicles plying without proper documents were seized on Saturday. As part of ‘Operation Vajra Prahar’ against drug menace, the district police took up cordon and search operations at several places in the district. Drones were also used to keep a tab on anti-social elements during the operations. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Patil said officials from the rank of Deputy SP to Sub-Inspectors (SI) and other personnel were part of the operation. Extensive searches and vehicle checks were carried out at several locations. A total of 69 vehicles without valid documents were seized, and a bind-over case was registered within Alur police limits. Apart from enforcement, police also conducted awareness campaigns about the ill-effects of drug abuse and urged people to inform police on 1972 about ganja transportation or smuggling.
