Bharat Rashtra Samiti working president and MLA K.T. Rama Rao criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy led Congress government for failing to implement its six guarantees promised in the run-up to the previous Assembly elections almost two-and-a-half years after taking over the reins.

“The Chief Minister has signed the file pertaining to the six guarantees amidst huge gathering. Where is the file? Is it missing? People are waiting for the implementation of the guarantees,” he said. He alleged that land appears to be the main agenda behind every project being announced by the government as could be seen from steep rise in the list of prohibited lands which grew from 20 lakh acres during the BRS regime to over one crore acres now.

Mr. Rao launched a scathing attack on the government for failing to fulfil its assurances alleging the “government has lost its credibility” and “what it does in the last more than two years is bulldozing the people of different sections for questioning its failure.” He cited the promises like ₹2,500 per month sustenance allowance to women, hike in social security pensions to ₹4,000 a month, unemployment allowance to youth and distribution of vehicles to girl students – claiming that they remained unkept.

“The government has received 1.25 crore applications from people pertaining to the guarantees, but a majority remain on paper. The first half of the governance has been disastrous,” he said. In his more than one hour speech, frequently interrupted by Ministers, during the motion of thanks to Governor’s address in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, the BRS working president pooh-poohed the government’s claim on implementing the promise of providing ₹1 lakh crore interest free loans to self-help group women.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka who intervened at this juncture said the government had ensured loans of ₹57,000 crore to SHGs through Stri Nidhi and other schemes. Countering the claim, Mr. Rao said he would tender his resignation immediately if the Deputy Chief Minister was able to prove his claim.

“The government did not remit the pending interest of ₹2,000 crore to SHGs, but is claiming to make one crore women crorepatis. The promise will need $100 trillion, not $3 trillion,” he said launching a broadside against the government for spending huge amounts on advertisements on behalf of the Congress in the States going to polls like Maharashtra and Kerala.

The government had failed on the financial front in that Telangana which was ranked number one in terms of State’s Own Tax Revenues at 80% could not achieve the projected revenue receipts over the past two years.

The government had not fulfilled the aspirations of the farmers too as it did not credit the amounts pertaining to three instalments of Rythu Bharosa (Rythu Bandhu during BRS regime). Even as loan waiver was partial in that the Congress claimed that it would require ₹55,000 crore for covering all farmers, but credited just around ₹20,000 crore. The government did not release the more than ₹10,000 crore dues pertaining to fee reimbursement scheme but fully funded the Chief Minister’s three day visit to Harvard, he alleged.
