Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has accused the Congress government of consistently delaying the Rythu Bandhu assistance to farmers thereby denying the farming community the much-needed investment support.

Speaking at a felicitation programme for the newly elected BRS municipal councillors in Sircilla on Monday, Mr Rao alleged that the State government has already defaulted on Rythu Bandhu payments multiple times. It has once again delayed the assured investment support under the scheme this season, he said.

He flayed the delay in Rythu Bandhu payments, saying “Telangana farmers’ money is being diverted.”

Mr. Rao accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of trying to safeguard his political position by pleasing the Congress leadership in Delhi at the expense of Telangana’s farmers.

He said the Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi as well as the AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge had repeatedly assured the people of Telangana that the six guarantees promised by the Congress party would be given legal backing within 100 days of coming to power.

The BRS will raise the issue in the upcoming Assembly sessions and will introduce a private member bill demanding legal backing for the six guarantees as promised by the Congress.
