In addition to the existing schedules the special services will operate on March 18, 19, and 20 to facilitate smooth travel for festival travellers. | Photo Credit: FILE PHOTO The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced the operation of 2,000 additional buses to manage the increased passenger demand during the upcoming Ugadi and Id festivals. According to the corporation, in addition to the existing schedules the special services will operate on March 18, 19, and 20 to facilitate smooth travel for festival travellers. Special return services will also be arranged from various intra- and inter-State destinations to Bengaluru on March 22 to accommodate passengers returning after the holidays. The buses will depart from the Kempe Gowda Bus Station to several key destinations including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subrahmanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapur, Sringeri, Horanadu, Hubballi, Belagavi, Gokarna, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, and Bidar, among others. Services will also be operated to inter-State destinations such as Tirupati, Vijayawada and Hyderabad, a release stated. Additionally, special buses will operate from the Mysuru Road Bus Station towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Periyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalnagar, and Madikeri to cater to passengers travelling to Kodagu and surrounding areas. The release added that passengers can book tickets in advance through the KSRTC’s computerised reservation system, booking counters across Karnataka and neighbouring States, or online through the corporation’s website. The KSRTC has also announced a 5% discount on fares for groups of four or more passengers booking together and a 10% discount on return tickets when onward and return journeys are booked simultaneously. The corporation said that additional buses would also be deployed from taluk and district bus stands depending on passenger demand.
