Aiming to fully leverage the opportunities of the modern era, Kerala Paper Products Limited (KPPL) is moving towards diversification and expansion of its operations, Industries and Commerce Minister P. Rajeeve said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the ₹741 crore project to enhance production capacity and diversify products at the KPPL unit in Velloor. Around ₹100 crore is being invested in modernising the existing production plant, the Minister added.

Cooperation Minister V.N. Vasavan presided over the function.

Of the ₹741 crore development project being implemented at Kerala Paper Products Limited (KPPL), ₹175 crore has been sanctioned as government equity participation, while ₹25 crore has been allocated as equity support from the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC). The remaining ₹541 crore will be mobilised through a consortium of banks.

Production is being expanded with the company’s entry into the manufacture of paper products, including specialty papers and high quality packaging grades. The initiative also aims to establish a paper cluster to fully harness emerging opportunities, taking into account the growing demand for specialty grades, premium packaging materials and writing and printing papers.
