Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on March 12, KKCCI President Sharanbasappa M. Pappa and Secretary Shivaraj Inginshetty stated that the business environment in and around the Super Market area had been adversely affected due to the absence of organised parking facilities, encroachment of footpaths, and the presence of hawkers and pushcart vendors on busy market streets. Mr. Pappa said land had already been identified for the construction of a multi-storey parking complex in the supermarket area. He urged authorities not to alter the purpose of the land. He pointed out that the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) had released ₹999 crore under the Macro Programme to the City Corporation during 2024-25 and 2025-26 for infrastructure development, including parking facilities in market areas. However, the project is yet to be initiated. The KKCCI also objected to the construction of tin sheds on land earmarked for the proposed parking facility as part of efforts to shift merchants in the flower market. Mr. Pappa urged the authorities concerned to remove the sheds and restore the land for the multi-level parking complex project so that work could be taken up without delay. He suggested relocating flower market traders and pushcart vendors to the sheds allotted for street vendors near the Old Jail area, which remains underutilised and could be developed as a designated vending zone. Authorities were also urged to identify a suitable alternate location for the flower market.
