Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association has expressed its strong protest against the ‘unjust’ suspension meted out to the Gynaecologist-obstetrician at Nedumangad district hospital, even though the expert committees which enquired into the death of the newborn had clearly stated that there was no medical negligence on the part of the doctor It also protested against the delay on the part of the government in arresting those persons who had physically assaulted the Superintendent over the death of the newborn. At a meeting held recently, the district general body of KGMOA, which assessed the human resource situation in the district, pointed out that continuing delivery services in delivery points where basic infrastructure and human resources are inadequate, posed a huge threat to the life and health of mothers and newborns KGMOA district unit has declared that henceforth, in public sector institutions where there are only two gynaecologists, on-call delivery services or related surgeries beyond duty hours will not be performed. It said that it was launching a strong protest demanding justice for the doctor who had been handed suspension notice and that the persons who assaulted the Superintendent be arrested without delay From Tuesday, KGMOA will stop Speciality OP services and elective surgeries, it said. If the government does not take a responsible approach towards the problems highlighted by the doctors, KGMOA will be forced to intensify its agitation, KGMOA said in a statement here Published – March 16, 2026 09:31 pm IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
