The DMK candidate for the Mudukulathur constituency, Minister R.S. Rajakannappan, filed his nomination papers with the Returning Officer, Gangadevi at Mudukulathur Tahsildar office here on Monday.

Former Minister Sathiyamoorthy, former MLA Murugavel, and DMDK District Secretary Singai Jinnah, among others, were present.

Congress candidate for Thiruvadanai constituency, MLA R.M Karumanickam, along with DMK District Secretary and MLA Katharbatcha Muthuramalingam and Congress District president Rajaram Pandian filed his nomination with Returning Officer Ramesh at Thiruvadanai Tahsildar office.

Following this, Mr. Karumanickam speaking to reporters, said: “There is a definite chance of victory due to the welfare schemes implemented during the DMK regime over the past five years. We will seek votes by highlighting these welfare schemes and the election promises currently announced by the DMK.”

In the Ramanathapuram Revenue Divisional Office, the BJP candidate for the Ramanathapuram constituency, GPS K. Nagendran, filed his nomination papers with Returning Officer Habibur Rahman. Former AIADMK Minister Manikandan and BJP District President Muralidharan were present.

Later, Mr. Nagendran said, “In the last five years of DMK rule, there have been more ordeals than achievements. People are ready to send the DMK home. I will take steps to provide cold storage facilities to protect fish, and to export fish to foreign countries as well as sell them with added value. If the Cauveri-Vaigai-Gundar project is implemented, Ramanathapuram district will flourish. I will urge the leadership to transform Ramanathapuram into an agricultural zone like the Delta districts.”

AIADMK candidate for the Thiruvadanai constituency, Keerthika Muniyasamy, filed her nomination with the Returning Officer Ramesh at Thiruvadanai Tahsildar office.

Speaking to journalists, she noted that there was a persisting drinking water problem in her constituency.

“My first task upon winning will be to take action to solve the drinking water issue,” she resolved.

The Cauvery-Vaigai-Gundar project would be implemented once our General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami becomes Chief Minister, she asserted.
