Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan | Photo Credit: PTI The LDF government is set to make the declaration of the completion of the construction of 5 lakh houses under the Kerala government’s Livelihood Inclusion and Financial Empowerment (LIFE) Mission project, in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday (February 24). The housing scheme was launched with the goal of a State without homeless people. The project was launched in 2016. In a statement here on Monday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said around ₹20,831.60 crore has been spent by the government on the LIFE Mission scheme. Terming this “a model scheme for the country” in terms of efficiency and comprehensiveness, the Chief Minister said that through this initiative, the State government provides financial assistance of ₹4 lakh to every ordinary family and ₹6 lakh to Scheduled Tribe (ST) families for constructing a house. The scheme, which provides secure houses to the homeless, is part of the LDF government’s people’s development vision, he said.
