The hearings as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll have been completed in Alappuzha, Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts, Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala) Rathan U. Kelkar said on Monday. In all, hearings and verification were completed in 2.56 lakh cases in Alappuzha, 4.77 lakh cases in Thiruvananthapuram and 3.93 lakh cases in Ernakulam. So far, a little over 36.02 lakh people have been heard across the State. This number includes ‘non-mapped’ cases as well as cases of logical discrepancies, Election officials said. In all, 28,158 voters have been found ineligible in the hearings. This number includes 3,522 deceased voters, 1,361 persons who had relinquished their citizenship and 23,275 who had shifted locations. Election officials hope to complete the hearing and verification phase by February 12.
