Kerala SIR: 11 districts record dip in voters, three show increase

A district-wise break-up of the electoral roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Kerala shows a dip in voter numbers in 11 districts and an increase in three when compared to the roll as it stood on October 27, 2025. Thiruvananthapuram district recorded the steepest decline while Malappuram recorded the highest increase).

Thiruvananthapuram accounted for a significant chunk of the total decline of 8.97 lakh voters reported in the State in the final roll when compared to the October 2025 list. In Thiruvananthapuram, the number of voters fell from 28,47,907 to 25,26,325 after the SIR. It went up from 34,13,174 to 36,15,970 in Malappuram.

The Election Commission of India formally released the final electoral roll under Kerala SIR on Saturday, although the basic data, including the total number of voters (2.69 crore), were released on Friday. With this, the SIR exercise in the State has drawn to a close although the list is open to appeals. SIR enumeration forms had been issued to 2.78 crore voters as the list stood on October 27, 2025. The number had come down to 2.54 crore in the draft roll published on December 23, 2025. Compared to the draft roll, voter numbers have gone up by 15.11 lakh in the final list.

The following districts recorded dip (the decline in brackets): Thiruvananthapuram (3.21 lakh), Kollam (67,856), Pathanamthitta (73,714), Alappuzha (88,091), Kottayam (1.12 lakh), Idukki (1.01 lakh), Ernakulam (1.83 lakh), Thrissur (1.37 lakh), Palakkad (78,494), Kozhikode (1369) and Wayanad (763).

Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod recorded an increase of 2.02 lakh, 47,242 and 17,895 voters respectively.

In the final roll, Malappuram district has the highest number of voters (36.15 lakh) and the second highest number of transgender voters (40). Malappuram is also the only district where male voters (18.10 lakh) outnumber female (18.05 lakh).

Thiruvananthapuram has the highest number of transgender voters (54).

Voters can check their status in the final voter roll on electoralsearch.eci.gov.in by typing in their EPIC number. The final roll is also available on ceo.kerala.gov.in which is the website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and at the offices of the electoral registration officers (ERO)/assistant EROs.
