Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sobha Surendran found herself at the centre of a controversy on the eve of polling in the Palakkad Assembly constituency on Wednesday, after United Democratic Front (UDF) alleged that BJP workers were involved in distributing cash to voters. The Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) circulated videos purportedly showing a woman accompanying Ms. Surendran handing over money to an elderly woman at Theruvakkurissi in Kannadi grama panchayat.
