Citing the need for open spaces in Kochi city, the Kerala High Court expressed concern at many such areas being converted into commercial spaces, harming their natural beauty. All over the world, open spaces abound. Kochi needs more of them, it said. The court was hearing a plea by Tritvam Apartment Owners’ Association and its president, who contended that the Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA) adding 20 more kiosks along Queen’s Walkway in the city would change the residential character of the area, overburden civic infrastructure, and create traffic congestion.
