The Kerala High Court has dismissed a writ petition that challenged the appointment of V.A. Arun Kumar, son of the former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, as the Director in-charge of the Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD). The petition had been filed by Vinu Thomas, dean (Academic) of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), who had applied for the post of director of the institute.
