As the election campaign enters its decisive phase, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will campaign in Thrissur district on Monday (April 6), energising the United Democratic Front (UDF) ahead of polling.

Mr. Gandhi is scheduled to arrive at 3 p.m. at the helipad set up at St. Teresa’s College ground in Mala. From there, he will proceed by road to the first campaign venue at St. Antony’s Higher Secondary School ground, where he will address a public meeting. UDF candidates from constituencies including Kodungalloor, Kaipamangalam, Ollur, Puthukkad, Chalakudy, and Irinjalakuda will be present at the gathering.

Later, he will travel by helicopter to Kunnamkulam, landing at the helipad arranged at Bethany St. John’s English Higher Secondary School ground. He will then head to the old bus stand premises in Kunnamkulam, the venue for the second major rally of the day. Candidates from Chelakkara, Thrissur, Nattika, Kunnamkulam, Wadakkanchery, Manalur, and Guruvayur constituencies will take part in the event.

Senior national and State leaders, including K.C. Venugopal, are expected to accompany him during the campaign.

With just days left for polling, Mr. Gandhi’s visit is seen as a crucial push for the UDF, with party leaders expressing confidence that his presence will galvanise cadres and strengthen what they describe as a “historic comeback” in the district.
