Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday inaugurated the ₹506.48 crore Vattiyurkavu junction development project, which involves major road works within Thiruvananthapuram city. He also launched a project for the rehabilitation of traders who gave up land for the project. Mr. Vijayan said that the State government has in the last ten years implemented projects worth ₹1.16 lakh funded through Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) for improvement of basic infrastructure.

“The Vattiyurkavu junction development project will give a fillip to the basic infrastructure development of the entire capital city. The project is a result of the government’s understanding that the allied regions should develop along with the capital city. With this, a long-standing demand of the residents of Vattiyurkavu and beyond will become a reality. Similar developmental projects are ongoing all across Kerala,” he said.

Mr. Vijayan lauded the several traders who readily gave up their livelihood for the development project. He said that the government spent ₹89 crore to acquire 2.31 acre land for the rehabilitation of traders.
