The 2026-27 State Budget will be presented on January 29, 2026, according to the Calendar of Sittings for the 16th session of the 15th Kerala Assembly. Last week, the Kerala Cabinet had decided to kick off the 16th session, the final one of the present Left Democratic Front (LDF) government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, on January 20, 2026. Kerala is expecting Assembly polls in the first half of the year. The session, being the first one of the year, will open with an address by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. As per the Calendar of Sittings, the session is being planned from January 20 to March 26 with breaks in session from February 6 to 22, and on March 2 and 3. Discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s address will be held on January 22, 27 and 28. In between, the Kerala Assembly is also scheduled to host the 2026 edition of Loka Kerala Sabha from January 29 to 31. In 2025, the State Budget was presented on February 7.
