Kerala Assembly Polls 2026: Union Minister Rajnath Singh blames LDF, UDF for Sabarimala gold theft case

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has blamed the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) for the Sabarimala gold theft case.

He alleged that leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) were involved in the loot of the gold from the temple while Congress leaders helped in selling it.

Mr. Singh, who inaugurated an election convention of the National Democratic Alliance in the Paravur Assembly constituency on Wednesday, said the LDF owed an answer to the devotees as it failed to protect their interests. “Where is the gold stolen from the Sabarimala temple,” he asked.

He alleged that the LDF and the UDF joined hands to move a resolution against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024. The Centre wanted to act against the grabbing of land belonging to the poor in the name of Waqf land. The Union Minister blamed both the LDF and the UDF for not protecting the interests of about 600 families impacted by the Munambam land dispute.

Mr. Singh alleged that the LDF and the UDF were involved in appeasement politics as seen by their open acceptance of support being extended by organisations including the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Social Democratic Party of India.
