With campaigning for the Assembly elections entering its final leg, the anti-defacement squad has removed 35,627 campaign materials put up by various political fronts in violation of the model code of conduct (MCC) in Ernakulam. On Saturday (April 4, 2026) alone, 2,953 campaign materials were removed. The materials included 1,872 posters, 429 banners, and 652 other campaign boards belonging to various political parties. The squad has been conducting inspections in the district as part of efforts to ensure a free and transparent election. The public can report violations of the MCC through the cVIGIL app or via email at mccernakulam2026@gmail.com. Photos or videos of violations can be submitted instantly. A total of 12,713 complaints had been received through the cVIGIL app by Saturday, of which action had been taken on 12,711, an official release said.
