The Alappuzha district, which grabbed attention after CPI(M) dissident G. Sudhakaran announced his candidacy as an Independent for the Ambalappuzha constituency, recorded 77.36% of polling as voting concluded on Thursday.

The voter turnout marked a significant increase from the 74.68% recorded in the previous Assembly elections in 2021, in tune with the brisk polling reported from across the State. The final tally was yet to be declared as the data from polling booths were still being processed around 9 p.m.
