Kerala has a little over 2.44 lakh voters in the persons with disabilities (PwD) category, as per the updated electoral roll published by the Election Commission of India (EC). The number represents 0.9% of the total electorate this time. Of the 2,44,927 PwD voters, 1,37,512 are men, 1,07,410 are women, and five are transgender voters. Kerala had over 1.33 lakh voters in this category for the 2021 Assembly polls and 2.6 lakh voters during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. For the upcoming elections, Kozhikode has the highest number of PwD voters (32,287). Other districts with a high number of voters in this category include Malappuram (29,796), Thrissur (24,850), Kannur (22,928), and Thiruvananthapuram (22,595). The EC, as per Section 60(c) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, had announced that electors above the age of 85 years and PwD electors flagged in the electoral roll may cast their vote through postal ballot.
