Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Koduvally has highest number of candidates in fray in Kozhikode

Koduvally constituency has the highest number of candidates (11) in the fray in Kozhikode district, and Perambra and Kozhikode North have 10 each as the deadline for the withdrawal of nomination papers ended on Thursday. The district officially has 98 candidates now across 13 seats after 14 others withdrew their nomination papers.

The lowest number of candidates are in Kozhikode South: just three. Meanwhile, the number of namesake candidates against P.K. Firos of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Koduvally has come down to two from four. His opponent, Saleem Madavoor of the Left Democratic Front, however, has three namesake rivals in the fray. P.V. Anvar, UDF-backed Independent in Beypore, will have four rivals with similar names. Thottathil Raveendran, LDF candidate from Kozhikode North, too has three namesake rivals.

Meanwhile, Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), who is contesting from Elathur as an LDF candidate, has been allotted the symbol of a man blowing a trumpet. This follows his party’s split some time ago after which ‘clock’, which was the NCP’s original symbol, was given to the official faction of the party. Another candidate named P.K. Saseendran son of Sabu Dasan, who is contesting from the NCP, has been given the ‘clock’ symbol.

K.K. Rema of the Revolutionary Marxist Party, who is a UDF-backed candidate from Vadakara, has been given TV as the symbol. In the 2021 polls, she had been given the football symbol.

Ahammad Devarkovil of the Indian National League, who is contesting from the Kozhikode South constituency as an LDF candidate, has been given bucket as the symbol. He had earlier used ‘glass tumbler’ as the symbol.
