The arrest of former office assistant of Nattika MLA and NDA candidate C.C. Mukundan has triggered a sharp political confrontation, with Mr. Mukundan accusing the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the police of targeting his supporters through “fabricated cases.”

Mr. Mukundan alleged that “a young man’s life is being destroyed through a false complaint,” after his former office assistant and DTPC Snehatheeram manager, Ahsar Majeed, was arrested by the Kodungallur police on Monday.

In protest, Mr. Mukundan staged a sit-in outside the Kodungallur DYSP office for nearly one-and-a-half hours, demanding action against what he termed “politically motivated misuse of police machinery.”

The arrest followed a complaint filed by the LDF election committee against alleged cyber attacks and caste-based abuse targeting its Nattika candidate Geetha Gopi.

Rejecting the charges, Mukundan said, “Ahsar Majeed has not made any casteist remarks against Geetha Gopi. CPI leaders intervened to file a false complaint and register the case. This is part of a larger conspiracy using the police.”

He also claimed that the arrest took place while Majeed had gone to the Irinjalakuda Rural SP office to file a complaint against alleged online abuse by LDF supporters.

The episode comes amid an escalating social media battle in Nattika, where supporters of Mr. Mukundan and LDF workers have been trading allegations and counter-allegations, turning the contest into an increasingly bitter and high-stakes political fight.
