All arrangements have been completed in Kozhikode district to ensure a free and fair polling process with the deployment of 13,218 officials, District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh has said. Addressing a press conference here on Monday (April 6) to outline the poll arrangements, the Collector said 2,837 polling stations have been set up in the district for 26,68,817 electors, including 16,04,604 men, 16,64,182 women and 31 transgender persons, to cast their votes on April 9. He added that one model polling station and 67 pink polling stations staffed entirely by women would be set up in each constituency. According to the Collector, special security personnel will be deployed at 351 vulnerable booths. In Kozhikode rural limits alone, around 1,600 police personnel, in addition to Central Armed Police Forces, will be deployed, he said. “There will be webcasting facilities to prevent impersonation and bogus voting. CCTV visuals from various booths will be monitored continuously from the control room at the Collectorate,” the Collector said. He added that mobile deposit facilities would be arranged for voters near polling booths. Explaining arrangements for election officials to cast their votes, he said 14 voter facilitation centres and 14 postal voting centres would be set up in the district. A designated voter facilitation centre will also function at the district headquarters for officials, he added.
