Announcing this in Nizamabad on Friday, Ms. Kavitha said that after visiting Varanasi and performing rituals in Kashi, the formal party launch would be held. She sought the blessings of people, stating that it would be the first political party to be launched by a Telangana woman and serve as a ‘guiding light’ to change the future of Telangana. Stating that the party’s objective would be to build a ‘Sarvodaya Telangana’ (welfare of all), Ms. Kavitha said it will be Telangana’s own home-grown party. “Our entire focus will be on Telangana. We are not anyone’s B-team. We will emerge as the number one party in the State,” she asserted. Ms. Kavitha said her party would draw inspiration from Lord Sri Rama, who corrected his governance based on public feedback and such ideals. “A political party should not have an ego. Even those who criticised me in the past are welcome to join us if they are committed to Telangana’s progress,” she said. She also favoured lobbying in New Delhi and at the same time work at the grassroots level in the State. However, she was critical of the past and present rulers stating that Telangana had not achieved complete success in water, funds and employment even 12 years after State formation. She stated that minorities, including Christians and Sikhs, would find a voice in the new party. “Jagruthi has always stood for social Telangana and progressive Telangana,” she said. About 50 committees had already been constituted to draft the party agenda and consultations were ongoing with intellectuals and various sections of society.
