Alagumeena on Wednesday inspected the vulnerable and sensitive polling stations of Colachel and Padmanabhapuram constituencies. A total of 137 polling stations across the six constituencies of the district have been identified as sensitive and vulnerable polling stations, including 36 in Kanniyakumari, 18 in Nagercoil, 15 in Colachel, 23 in Padmanabhapuram, 23 in Vilavancode and 10 in Killiyoor constituencies. She visited Government Middle School in Saravilai, Government High School in Ilappavilai, Government Primary School in Thuckalay and other stations. She also inspected the model polling centre to be established at Government Middle School in Thiruvithancode. She said that additional police personnel, micro observers and central security forces will be deployed at vulnerable and sensitive polling stations. She added that a survey had been conducted to determine whether basic facilities such as drinking water, shade, electricity and ramp for differently abled were available for the voters. Ms. Alagumeena said that department officials had been instructed to install surveillance camera facilities at all vulnerable and sensitive polling stations and a control room will be set up to monitor.
