Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumena inspected the polling stations in Padmanabhapuram constituency on Thursday.

Election preparedness work is progressing in full swing across polling stations in all six constituencies of the district. As part of the inspection, she inspected the Government primary School in Malavilai and Government Middle School in Andur. Ms. Alagumena reviewed the basic facilities at the polling stations such as electricity connection, drinking water, toilets and ramp access for differently abled persons.

General observer for Padmanabhapuram constituency Priyanka Basu Ingty inspected the remote hill area of Padmanabhapuram constituency, and stressed the need to ensure basic arrangements at the polling station. She also exhorted the voters to franchise their votes on poll day.

Awareness campaign

As part of the voter awareness initiatives, a campaign was conducted at Mathoor aqueduct. Programmes such as an awareness pledge, a human chain by volunteers and other activities were organised to encourage voter participation.

Ms. Alagumeena also took part in the campaign and appealed the public to ensure 100% voter turnout in Kanniyakumari district.
