Amogh Sirnoorkar | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT Kalaburagi scientist Amogh Sirnoorkar has been selected for the Post-Doctoral Top Mentor Award instituted by Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana, in the U.S. for 2026. The award, being presented for the first time by the university, carries a cash prize of U.S. $1,500 along with a citation and a memento. Mr. Sirnoorkar is the maiden recipient of this distinction. According to sources, he was chosen by a panel of 14 post-doctoral peer judges from among nominees representing seven colleges of the university. The award will be formally presented at a ceremony scheduled to be held at Purdue University on April 22, 2026. Mr. Sirnoorkar completed his B.Sc from S.B. Science College in Kalaburagi and his M.Sc in Physics from the Central University of Karnataka, Kadaganchi, Kalaburagi. He went on to pursue his Ph.D at Kansas State University in the U.S. and later, undertook post-doctoral research at Purdue University.
