Sharanappa inspecting the recovered valuables on Wednesday. | Photo Credit: ARUN KULKARNI The Kalaburagi city police have solved two robbery cases and arrested two accused, recovering gold ornaments and cash worth ₹16.22 lakh. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Police Commissioner S.D. Sharanappa said that in the first case, Rahuldev Dhanna, a resident of PWD Quarters on Old Jewargi Road, had lodged a complaint stating that his house was burgled on October 26, 2025, and gold ornaments weighing 170 gm, 20 gm of silver ornaments, and ₹50,000 cash was stolen. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Rahul Singh Taak, a welder, and recovered gold ornaments worth ₹6.22 lakh and ₹ 2 lakh obtained by selling part of the stolen jewellery. The accused was involved in four similar cases under the Wadi Railway police limits, the Commissioner said. In the second case, the police arrested Basavaraj Biradar, a watchman who had been working for two years at the house of Sanjay Singh in GDA Colony, Shahabazar, in the city. According to a complaint lodged by Revanayya Math, manager of the house, the accused had allegedly fled with 40 gm of gold ornaments worth ₹6.4 lakh and ₹1.6 lakh in cash.. During interrogation, Basavaraj reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that he had committed the theft to clear his debts, the police said.
