Nataraj being greeted at SSL Law College in Kalaburagi on Sunday. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT SAMWAD – Faculty Interaction Programme was organised, in association with the Kalyana Karnataka Law Colleges Association and Vijnaneshwar Pratisthana Trust, at Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society’s Seth Shantaram Lahoti Law College in Kalaburagi on Sunday. Judge of the High Court of Karnataka R. Nataraj, who was the chief guest, delivered an address on “Women’s Property Rights under the Hindu Succession Act”. He highlighted the importance of gender justice, legal awareness and the responsibility of teachers in strengthening socially responsible legal education. He underscored the need for academic institutions to equip students with a sound understanding of Constitutional values and evolving legal frameworks. Senior counsel and alumnus of the law college Amitkumar Deshpande, who was the guest of honour, appreciated the institution’s efforts in promoting professional excellence and fostering meaningful academic engagement among faculty members. The programme commenced with a welcome address by college principal Maheshwari Hiremath. As part of the SAMWAD initiative, an interactive session was held with faculty members during which there were discussions on contemporary legal challenges, teaching methodologies and the evolving role of law in society. Participants described the session as enriching and intellectually stimulating for the academic community. Registrar of the High Court in Kalaburagi and an alumnus of the college Basavaraj Chengata was also present on the occasion. Faculty members Vaishnavi Kori, Farhat and others attended the event.
