Even as the Tamilaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam was expected to field its founder president B. John Pandian in Rajapalayam constituency as the National Democratic Alliance candidate, Mr. John has announced that his wife Priscilla would be contesting from Rajapalayam.

When Mr. John Pandian contested in the Tenkasi Parliamentary constituency, comprising Tenkasi, Kadayanallur, Vasudevanallur (Reserve), Sankarankovil (Reserve), Rajapalayam and Srivilliputhur (Reserve) segments in 2024, he was pushed to the third spot. While DMK’s Rani Srikumar got elected to the Parliament, Puthiya Thamizhagam founder president K. Krishnasamy became the runners-up and Mr. John Pandian finished third.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr. John said his wife would contest in BJP symbol, ‘Lotus’ and hoped that she would win the battle to serve the people from all walks of life.

He also urged the Election Commission to take due measures to curb distribution of cash for votes.
