The election flying squad officials seized gold and silver ornaments worth ₹2.40 crore which did not have proper documents in the district on Thursday evening (March 19, 2026). When the flying squad officials were engaged in a vehicle check-up at Ulagappampalayam near Tiruchengode, they checked a logistics vehicle that was headed to Namakkal from Salem. The staff came in the van claimed that gold and silver ornaments were transported to various jewellery shops in Namakkal, Karur, and Dindigul districts. But when the officials demanded documents for the jewellery, the staff was unable to provide adequate documents. Following this, the officials informed the income tax department and seized the jewellery and handed it over to the Tiruchengode Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Lenin.
