Janardhana Reddy has written to Chief Minister, Home Minister, and the Director-General of Police seeking ‘Z’ category or equivalent security to him and his family, by stating that he is facing a serious threat to life. Alleging police failure, he said that the government itself would be responsible if it failed to provide security to him and if there were further attacks on him. He has also written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking protection by Central forces. Meanwhile, commenting on Mr. Reddy’s letter, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said that “he can have whatever security he wants. He can get security from Iran or U.S. or have his own security. On his demand for ‘Z’ category security, he said, “Very good. He can raise a 100-member security from the BJP cadre too.” Home Minister G. Parameshwara said that he had not received any letter so far, and that suitable action would be initiated after receiving the letter. “He (Mr. Reddy) has already complained to the police. The [Congress] MLA [Nara Bharath Reddy] has also lodged a complaint. The police will take action,” the Home Minister said.
