IndiGo said on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) CEO Pieter Elbers had resigned ‌from his ‌position with ‌immediate effect for personal reasons, months after mass flight cancellations ‌left tens of thousands of passengers ‌stranded and drew regulatory scrutiny.

The airline said its managing director ‌Rahul Bhatia would manage the company in the ‌interim until a replacement is hired.

IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, faced massive flight disruptions in early December, and during that month, its market share fell to 59.6% from 63.6% in November.

During December, a total of 29,212 passenger-related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines, and the number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried was around 20.41, as per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
