As part of its efforts to strengthen the educational and institutional ecosystem in the capital city, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has moved forward with the establishment of a premier legal education institution in Amaravati. In a significant step towards developing the capital region as a hub for higher education and research, an agreement has been signed for setting up the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER) with the support of the Bar Council of India Trust – PEARL FIRST (Professional Education and Research for Law – Foundation for International Standards and Research Training), said a release. Official sources said the agreement is expected to enhance advanced legal education, research, and professional training while contributing to the academic and economic growth of the Amaravati region. The government, through APCRDA, has allotted 55 acres of land at Sakhamuru in Amaravati to the Bar Council of India Trust- PEARL FIRST for the legal research university. The initiative has been conceptualised by Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, Chairman of the Bar Council of India Trust- PEARL FIRST and Rajya Sabha member Manan Kumar Mishra. The Bar Council of India Trust – PEARL FIRST plans to invest approximately ₹300 crore in a phased manner for development of the university campus and associated infrastructure. The project is expected to generate employment opportunities for around 200 people in the initial phase, with the potential to create additional academic and professional opportunities as the institution expands. The lease deed for the project was executed on March 6 by Joint Director (Estates) Jubin Cheeran Roy, on behalf of the APCRDA, and Ashok Kumar Panday, Officiating Secretary, on behalf of the Bar Council of India Trust–PEARL FIRST. Mr. Mishra expressed his gratitude to the A.P. government and APCRDA for their support and vision in facilitating this significant initiative, which he said would strengthen the legal education ecosystem in Amaravati.
