Increasing train services to distant destinations from Mettupalayam station hinges on completion of infrastructure works

Completion of infrastructure augmentation works at Mettupalayam Railway Station will pave the way for operation of more number of long-distance express trains, the Railways has stated.

In a reply to a petition submitted by S. Basha, coordinator, Namma Mettupalayam Social Welfare Committee, through CPGRAMS (Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System) portal, the Salem Railway Division has replied that the requests made for restoration of Mettupalayam-Shoranur (Kerala) train service, and introduction of night-time long-distance train services from Mettupalayam to Bengaluru, Kerala and other State would be considered after completion of infrastructure works in the Mettupalayam Railway Station.

The Railways has undertaken OHE (overhead equipment) modification work for platform extension at Mettupalayam.
