Illuru Lakshmaiah of Kurnool has been elected unanimously as the president of Andhra Pradesh State Arya Vysya Mahasabha.

The Mahasabha president post for 2026-2028 was allotted to Rayalaseema zone and the election process for it commenced on Friday. Arya Vysya Mahasabha honorary president Penugonda Subbarayudu officiated the election held at the region office of the Mahasabha in Kurnool.

Two nominations were received for the post, including that of Mr. Lakshmaiah and Mudiyam Ramana of Anantapur. However, the person who proposed Mr. Ramana was not a member of the organisation and the nomination was rejected on technical grounds. Mr. Lakshmaiah was unanimously elected to the post and declaration form was handed over to him.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lakshmaiah said it was a honour for him to adorn a post that was once held by a luminary person and former Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah. Mr. Lakshmaiah said he would strive hard for the development of the community and would lead the organisation with the blessings of former Rajya Sabha member T.G. Venkatesh.

Mr. Lakshmiaah said he would also seek the cooperation of Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath in helping youngsters from the community get job opportunities in the industries that are being set up in the State.
