Poornachandra Kumar Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) Director Prof. Veezhinathan Kamakoti reiterated the relevance of Sanskrit in the modern times and said that the ancient language can go hand-in-hand with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Participating as the chief guest in the 5th convocation of National Sanskrit University (NSU) here on Friday (April 10, 2026), he said that the modern AI sought to make machines ‘understand’ human language through Natural Language Processing that required comprehension of meaning, context, and intention. “These are what Nyaya and Mimamsa in Sanskrit literature analysed for millennia”.
