The Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K) has achieved a global milestone by breaking into the Top 100 of the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 for the first time. The institute has been ranked 78th worldwide in the narrow subject category of Business and Management Studies, marking a remarkable rise from 141st position last year, a press release said on Wednesday (March 25, 2026). The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 evaluated 6,277 institutions globally, with 1,912 institutions ranked across 55 narrow subjects and five broad subject areas, resulting in over 21,000 ranking entries. Within this highly competitive global assessment, IIM-K’s strong performance underscores its growing international visibility and academic excellence in management education. This achievement also reflects a consistent upward trajectory for the institute. From being placed in the 401-450 band in 2021, IIM-K progressed to the 151-200 band in 2024. In 2025, it attained an individual Rank of 141, for the first time, and now firmly secures a place among the world’s top 100 institutions in its domain. Commenting on the achievement, Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM-K, said, “Breaking into the global top 100 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject is a proud moment for the IIM-K.
