The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Dharwad signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on Wednesday, coinciding with the 76th BIS Foundation Day celebration. The signing ceremony was held at IIIT Dharwad in which Director Mahadeva Prasanna and Scientist-E/Director & Head of BIS Hubballi Branch office P.N. Murali signed and exchanged the documents. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi joined the programme via the virtual mode. The MoU will enable students and faculty of IIIT Dharwad to undertake projects related to verification and maintenance of standards in electronics and IT products and services, while supporting BIS in defining and ensuring standards in these rapidly evolving sectors, a release from IIIT Dharwad said. The agreement also aims to promote joint research, participation in national and international technical committees, development of IT-enabled solutions, training programmes, academic initiatives and the proposed establishment of a Centre of Excellence in standardisation-related areas. Senior faculty members and officials of BIS were present.
