Rama Rao has said. Speaking at a meeting organised to felicitate Sarpanches and Upa-Sarpanches elected with BRS support at Mahabubnagar on Monday, he said the statement of Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on the possibility of cancellation of newly formed districts would ignite large-scale protests in districts. It appears that the Congress party was against better reach of development and welfare to people with new districts and other administrative units. Nobody would keep quiet if the newly-formed districts were cancelled. Former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had formed small districts to take the administration and development to people’s doorsteps. Upgrading ‘thandas’ as gram panchayats forming new mandals, revenue divisions and districts were also aimed at keeping the officials closer to people.
