Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday inaugurated a stopover point (Idathavalam) for pilgrims with modern facilities at the Sree Mahadeva temple in Kazhakuttam in the capital. The facility has been built at a cost of ₹10 crore. Spread over three floors and covering an area of 32,000 sq ft, the stopover point has an annadana mandapam where 300 people can be served food at a time. In addition, facilities such as a dormitory to house 75 men and 25 women, secure locker rooms and high-speed Wi-Fi system have been provided. Mr. Vijayan said that the government aims to build twelve such stopover points across Kerala with the financial assistance of KIIFB. Currently, work of six such facilities is progressing in the State.
