Senior Congress leader T. Jagga Reddy said he would never contest elections as an MLA from Sangareddy again as he had felt deeply hurt that even after Rahul Gandhi came to Sangareddy at his request and personally campaigned for his victory, he was defeated.

Speaking emotionally at a programme on House pattas in Sangareddy, he recalled the circumstances surrounding his defeat . “When Rahul Gandhi himself placed his hand on my shoulder and appealed to the people to ensure my win, I still lost. This is something I will never forget in my life,” he remarked.

Clarifying that the poor were not responsible for his defeat, the three-time MLA squarely blamed the local intelligentsia and influential elders. He said their role had contributed significantly to the electoral outcome.

Mr. Jagga Reddy declared that even if his wife Nirmala were to contest from Sangareddy in the future, he would not campaign in the constituency. “I am ready to campaign anywhere else in the State, but I will not step into Sangareddy for electioneering,” he said.
