Income Tax (I-T) officials on Tuesday (March 31, 2026) carried out a search at the house of a DMK functionary at Kuppuchipalayam in Karur. Acting on a tip-off that gifts meant for distribution to voters were being kept in a house, a group of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were posted around the house of R. Ramasamy, 47, a DMK member and the area’s ward secretary, on Monday (March 30, 2026) night. When the occupants enquired about the police presence, they were told that the personnel were here for a search. However, the search was only conducted the next day. No one was allowed to leave the house during the night.
