The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) protected nearly 7,000 square yards of park land in Uppal mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district, removing alleged encroachments.

In Babanagar Colony, where a layout of 183 plots was approved in 1980 with 3,000 square yards earmarked for a park, officials found the designated open space was converted into plots over time. The number of plots reportedly increased to 189, with the 3,000 square yards divided into six plots of 500 square yards each.

Following complaints from residents through HYDRAA’s Prajavani grievance platform, a joint field inspection was conducted by HYDRAA, GHMC and Revenue officials who confirmed the original park allocation. While portions had already been built upon, HYDRAA fenced the remaining 2,000 square yards and installed signboards demarcating it as park land.

In a separate operation, HYDRAA also safeguarded 5,000 square yards of open space in Karthikeya Nagar, Nacharam village, Uppal mandal, a statement from the agency said.
