LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County softball beat DuBois (7-4) on Tuesday, 11-1, in five innings of play.

Riley Hine collected two hits with one RBI for the Lady Huskies, including a home run.

Jalee Bodtorf went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Catcher Ava Baker tallied three ribbies with three hits, two runs and two doubles for the Huskies.

Piper Specht also went 3-for-3 with one RBI in the win. Falynn Reinard had a triple, RBI and one run scored.

From the circle, Macy Pietzch earned the win as she went five innings. She allowed two hits, one unearned run, two walks and three strikeouts.

Mifflin County scored six times in the fifth frame and three times in the third frame. They had 14 hits and one error.

DuBois had two hits and five errors.

The Huskies (3-6) host Altoona (1-8) today at 4:15 p.m.

Wildcats sweep Indians

MIFFLINTOWN — The Juniata boys track team fell to Greenwood on Tuesday, 76-74.

“It was a tough meet going two days back to back. So, some of our kids didn’t compete in four events today but we still had some top placers,” Indians coach Maisie Hershberger said.

Anthony Maradiga took first in the pole vault followed by teammate Tayden Miller taking second. Wyatt Ehrenzeller took second place in the javelin and teammate Caden Swailes took third.

Joey Bomberger took one for the team and jumped in the 300 hurdles, placing second. Connor Boreman won the 100-meter dash and long jump. Jasper Shepps won the 110-meter hurdles and high jump. Andrew Martinez won discus Tuesday.

“I’m extremely proud of our boys today,” Hershberger added.

The Juniata girls lost, 101-49. Freshman Carolyn Heidenriech won the 800. Emerson Freed took third in the 300 hurdles and foreign exchange student Virginia D’Emilio took second in the 100 hurdles.

Juniata heads to Huntingdon on Friday.

Huskies sweep Pats

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County Junior High volleyball faced off against Red Land in their final home game of the season on Teacher Appreciation Night.

The seventh grade squad kicked off the evening with a strong performance, taking the first set 25-12 and taking a close second set, 25-23. Olivia Bedlyon led the Huskies with four aces, while Addyson Marks added three aces and two digs. Jovie Kauffman chipped in with two digs and two assists and Kyah Bishop posted two digs.

The eighth grade team followed up with a dominant showing, sweeping the Patriots in two sets, 25-15 and 25-18. Jayda Thomas and Grayce Napikoski each recorded six aces. Jayda also recorded four digs and five assists, while Grayce added seven digs and four kills. Ayden Long contributed two kills and two digs and Emma Hartzler added two kills and an ace to round out the effort.

The Huskies are on the road to take on Milton Hershey on Wednesday.

BASEBALL

Warriors best Mustangs, 9-3

MIDDLEBURG — Montoursville topped Midd-West in Monday baseball action, 9-3.

Shortstop Braxton Smith belted a home run and a double for Midd-West and he went 3-for-3. Second baseman Kyle Shupp went 2-for-4. Kaden Walter had an RBI with two hits.

Colton Aumiller tossed six frames, allowed eight hits, three earned runs, one walk and three strikeouts for Midd-West (3-6).

Jimmy Mussina pitched five innings for the Warriors (7-1). He gave up seven hits, three runs and five strikeouts.

Zack Neill went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Brody Aldenderfer had three hits with three ribbies.

Midd-West travels to Milton (2-7) today.
